The Wheeler Engineering Opportunity Fund is an initiative designed to expand scholarships, enhance academic resources, and strengthen opportunities for every student at the UK Pigman College of Engineering Paducah Campus and in our communities.
This fund honors Kenneth Wheeler, a longtime volunteer and supporter who was among the early advocates who helped bring the engineering program to Paducah in 1998. In 2021, Mr. Wheeler established the Wheeler Engineering Opportunity Program Fund to provide financial assistance to students in need. The new endowment builds upon his vision and ensures this support will continue for generations to come.
Scholarships that open doors – Helping talented local students who may not otherwise be able to afford a UK Paducah engineering education. With enrollment growing rapidly, the need for scholarships has never been greater.
Student success resources – Providing laptops and addressing other unmet needs for at-risk students so they can remain in the program and thrive.
Support for long-term growth – Sustaining our expanding academic programs and ensuring our facilities keep pace with industry needs. Recent additions include a BS in Computer Engineering Technology, a Certificate in Environmental Engineering, and a Nuclear Engineering course.
But more is needed to keep teaching labs and equipment updated for the future.
