The Bachelor of Science program in Computer Engineering Technology will seek accreditation by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, under the commission’s General Criteria and Program Criteria for Computer Engineering Technology and Similarly Named Programs.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

Consistent with the vision and mission statements of the University of Kentucky and the College of Engineering, the undergraduate program in Computer Engineering Technology will prepare our graduates for success in a broad range of computer engineering applications. Within 3 to 5 years after graduation, graduates from the program will:

  • Establish themselves in their professional careers by meeting or exceeding employers' expectations, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and applying systems thinking to understand the broader impact of their decisions.
  • Continue their professional development by pursuing formal education, advanced degrees, certifications, taking on challenging assignments, and/or engaging in graduate studies.
  • Foster the development of innovative knowledge and demonstrate leadership in their roles, becoming subject matter experts within their company, possessing effective communication skills to train and mentor junior employees and new hires.

Student Outcomes (SOs)

  1. an ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems in Computer Engineering Technology;
  2. an ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems in Computer Engineering Technology;
  3. an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly-defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature;
